No Pain, No Gain

It was a gorgeous Friday when the Pink Mafia street team headed out to flyer. It was sunny, warm and busy on the streets. It seemed like any other wonderful June day. How naive and innocent we were.

Vanessa and I were riding our bikes across Queen St. when some fool/cabbie thought it would be a brilliant idea to cut in front of all the bike riders on the road. Now, the bike Vanessa was riding was not hers. That purple monster belongs to her friend and she had no clue how dangerous it really was. As she swerved to avoid hitting the cab/killing herself, she was forced to bike onto the streetcar tracks. The tracks combined with the bike’s thin wheels obviously lead to disaster, and the poor girl fell onto the road! Luckily, she`d only scraped one knee and we decided to continue westward. Vanessa`s a trooper and we figured she`d be okay to continue.

As every downtown biker knows,there`s construction going on around ossington and queen. To put it simply, Vanessa wiped out AGAIN, getting caught in the tracks. This time she fell in front of a loser cruiser;luckily the soccer mom inside stopped and made sure she was okay. By the end of the day she`d skinned both knees, an elbow and her forearm, ripped her tights, scratched her sunglasses and embaressed herself on Queen Street. Her body may have been hurt but her dignity remains intact.

The moral of the story: What doesn`t kill you will make you stronger!
