Cadence Weapon + Chromeo and Red Bull’s Big Bang Party

There is this new generation of rappers that are fusing together real hip hop soul and electro music and I am loving it. After checking out The Cool Kids, Talib Kweli’s Idle Warship and N.E.R.D in concert, Cadence Weapon joins the list of artists that have an effortless swagger. We walked in to the Lee’s palace without knowing a thing about him and left with a shirt, the After Party Babies album (ordered from my IPhone) and enormous props and respect for Cadence Weapon & Company. He was dope and he joined the stage with fellow tour mates Woodhands for a quick set and impromptu performance. By the way Woodhands is straight gangster don’t be confused by their glasses and their high voices. When Cadence Weapon left the stage as quick as he came on I wanted so much more but I missed his actual set. We had to leave to catch Chromeo and Jamie Harris so we scurried across town but Lee’s Palace set a high standard for the night. We had a little bit of difficulty getting into the Red Bull Big bang (sounds very dirty) but as soon as we got there the vibe was so amazing.
They finally hit the stage and I had a few beads of sweat hit me in the eye which wasn’t so welcoming but I couldn’t get mad because Chromeo was making people sweat as much as they were. An amped audience makes any concert good so I wiped the sweat out of my eye and got closer to the madness. Can I just talk to the 6’0 tall people out there; there is no reason why if your 6’0 tall that you need to stand middle center in the crowd blocking us smaller ladies. You are an annoyance and frustrating for me, I digress. But back to the concert
when the Fancy Footwork song came on me and Green Giant beside me did the 2 step all night long and at that moment my love for tall people came back. Chromeo is super live and almost too good. Jamie Harris hit the stage and was getting the crowd crazy but it would have been nice for him to have a mic or something but he did keep the energy level high. I had to retire home but I made sure to snag a hot dog before I left. You know a concert is good when you put in the artist’s cd after and I did. I rolled down my windows and screamed 2 step, 2 step.
