Thank You Stacey Bondarenko!

Clearly Lykke Li is something to be admired or why would Pink Mafia care. She is Death Pop or Thrash Bop or The Electronic Beat Princess from the cleanest Nation of the world. Sweden. Homeland of other genius’ like Ace of Base and Millencolin. In 1986, this Olsen-esque dramatic songbird was birthed by artists to be an artist. To throw a kazoo around her neck, to stomp around in black frou frous, for the world would fall in love with her and for another star to be born.

Lykke Li (Timotej Zachrisson), the Original Scandinavian Wizard of Pop music has the strongest voice in the world. If Opening with “Dance, Dance, Dance”, covering Kings of Leon‘s “Knocked up” with Miike Snow AND busting out some American Hip hop beats wasn’t enough, Lykke Li also connected with her audience, heart in hand, better than Björk on her best day.

Unlike Britney, this L.L sings about life. The struggle, the strength and the talent as she covers her face. The hunger, the drive and the excitement as she pounds the back of her neck with her fist. Avenging. Really.

Highlights clearly included the kazoo. Adding to that list should be her NEW song that’s pretty darn country. The megaphone. And the meloncholy. And the duet. And sex being a secondary promotion to her music and soul. And the dude with the blue gatorade bottle.

With a band of three brothers, Lykke Li blew Toronto away last night at Sound Academy. It was kind of unreal. Her persona is uncanny; she’s probably of the sweethearts and has lovely fashion sense, but its the look on her face that makes people love her when she sings. Busting out with her tour friends, Miike Snow and rocking some super sonic Because of The Times kinda shit probably stole more hearts than they knew in this town. Opening acts (including Toronto Local Katie Stelmanis), brushed up with dance beats and energized the crowd so that no one went home unhappy. Not even that kid who refused to drink.

Lowlights included drunk pricks. That’s about it.

Kay Laser or Kay Vandertramp as she sometimes goes by, uses a lot of big words and loves live, REAL, music. She submitted her own bio but we couldn't decipher it. What we can say is that she's very poetic and has an alternative voice. We can also tell you she's mad cool, we're glad to have her on the team and her interview with A-Trak hit it out of the park. - Kate Snack
