Red Bull Thre3 Style Finals

Toronto’s nonstop rainy weekend did not hold people back from attending one of the city’s biggest parties this year, Red Bull Thre3 Style Finals Competition!

Challenge: Dj finalists from across Canada are to compete for the Title as Canada’s Top Party Rocker. Each competitor must deliver a 15 minute set that incorporates a minimum of three music genres. Judges made up of some of the music industry’s insiders, producers, promoters, bloggers, and headlining Djs will judge them based on creativity, track selection, skills, and stage presence & audience response.

Challengers: Dj Flipout, Fordinho, Dj Echo, Dj Mensa, A-Rock, Dj Payce, M-Kutz, Drastik, Dj IV and defending champ DJ Cosmo

Canada’s finest Dj’s pushed their buttons, twirled knobs, and battled it out in a full house at the Sound Academy last night. There was Red Bull flowing everywhere, bras and panties thrown around, and some crowd surfing. Heard lots of mashups and Major Lazer being played, Drake, Rusko as well but would’ve loved it if there was a bit more better dubstep chhhuuunneesss in some of the competitors sets. And surprisingly there was a little bit of Mylie Cyrus too.

Competition was tough and judges needed a little bit more time agreeing on a winner. Red Bull Thre3 Style judge A-Trak took over the stage giving the rest of the judges a few more minutes to think it through. A-Trak is one of the most talented Dj’s I’ve ever seen. I’d never get tired of watching him live, talent runs through this dude’s blood.

It was well passed 3am until they announce the winners…

Third place went to Dj IV and Dj Cosmo
Second place went to M-Kutz (Jessica and my favourite of the night)
So, who was this year’s most versitle Dj in Canada?

Congratulations goes out to Drastik for winning this year’s title as the best party rocker at Red Bull Thre3 Style Finals Competition and winning some sweet cash! I asked A-Trak why he thought Drastik deserved to win and he put it out simply as this “He deserved it. He was the best. Hands down.”

All in all, it was an incredibly awesome night of music, dance, and a fun crowd. Until next year!
