Buy Design’s Spring Social
6 Apr 2010Buy Design is having their 7th annual dress up party thi sSaturday, April 10th. The theme this year is Dirty Thirties. It’s not about being all Sex and the City “am I a real woman if I’m not married with kids by 35/”, not that “dirty thirty”, think 1930s. You know, the decade before the war, after the roaring 20s, when women had the vote and wore pants. Now we’re talking.

It’s in the Distillery District at the Fermenting Cellar which is fitting considering they are featuring a mess hall auction, croquet, badminton, and a dancehall tent. Oh the fun does not stop there, it’s all sidecars, sours and planters punch. It’s so Great Gatsby we’re thinking of reading the book in the cab en route (it’s only 100 pages, a sinch for smarty pants ladies like us).

What else do you need to know? Tickets are only $75 and can be purchased here. The money goes to Windfall, which is a charity that provides NEW clothing and basic needs to over 100 social service agencies in Toronto.

Wanna know something else? Kinda apropos for this event. One of the phrases that was commonly used in the 1930s, “Hey buddy, can you spare a dime?” Start the sparing. Let the dancing and sugary drinking begin.
