How to Submit to the Assmaster General

How to Submit to the Assmaster General

6 May 2010

I am a big grrrl with LOTS of attitude. But even I could stand to be taken down a notch to get healthy and in shape. Getting a better booty would a total bonus too.

So, I joined, Buns of Steel,  boot camp.   Omar Isuf is the self proclaimed “Ass Master General”   He promises many things on the website. He states ” It is the best program because its guaranteed to lose twice the weight in half the time for everyone as the program is based around each individual. The intensity, exercise selection and program is fitted so everyone has an effective work out in a fun and supportive community of success.”

The class mostly women , always walk in happy prepared to leave exhausted and exhilarated. the exercises are hard work with some being very hard to do. We are encouraged in the class to go at your own pace and within your mobility. That is my motto during my 46 mins of interval training. I am quite a beginner at this type of program.

Regardless of how hard any of us are about to work out, Omar commands our attention, by barking out the various exercises. Through the fast paced program our music to move to can be anything from Prince to Guns and Roses, depending on what suits the mood of our General.

Each exercise targets specific areas to create our *Buns of Steel*  A burpee, for example, is four exercises in one!  It starts from toes to knees to a jump in the air and back again.  Moans and groans from the class whenever this exercise is barked out! its not easy to do, but everyone does so with a lot of energy.

As  shown here,  a burpess  is a military exercise designed for pure punishment, and not an ounce of pleasure.

They need it as they are taken through the fast paced program. The class is often divided equally with friendly competition as the goal. Teams are often broken up into two. One is *team sweet* and the other * team savoury* From there the exercises are barked out in quick succession.  Our general, calls it The Gauntlet.   It is  sprinting, jumping, mountain climber kicks,  the plank (my personal horror) biceps curls, squats, lunges  with another set of burpees at the end. Each team member starts at a different exercise then moves to the next. Once the entire gauntlet is finished hand claps and high fives around to everyone no matter what you did in the gauntlet.

If you can get your body into one of these positions, good chance a Boot Camp is just for you!

Don’t think i  get off easy at my very beginner level.  Every class I am handed the 8 pound medicine ball. Whenever an exercises is called out that my body just can’t get into,I grit my teeth as I do every squat known to Omar and then some.

Locations could not be easier. East end classes are at  100 Torrens Avenue and 662 Pape.   Classes are also outside, weather permitting. I love the downtown class location. It is at a  dance studio with nice, hard wood floors and a full mirror.  Its at 585 Yonge Street.

The classes are ongoing so you can join up at any time.   Pardon the cliche if i can make nice with a 8 pond medicine ball then its worth checking it out.     Check Out Omar’s    You Tube Channel That sold me on his energy and personality.
