A Pot Lover’s Guide to Toronto.

A Pot Lover’s Guide to Toronto.

Bring Your Own Pot – or BYOP – is more than just a trend. Three awesome locations, The Hot Box Cafe, Hot Box After Dark and Vapor Central give pot smoking people a place to puff in peace but in a public environment. The rules in each place are the exact same. They boil down to stick to your own and the peeps you walked in with. No sharing, no mooching, no buying. Legal age with ID is expected. Expect to pay a membership, or pay a minimum charge. Tobacco is not allowed inside the walls of all locations.

Kensington Market is notorious for it’s pot friendly attitude. The Shuffle Demons I think, speak of this area quite well. Tucked inside Roach O Rama in you will find the Hot Box Cafe . The Cafe’s menu offers unexpectedly fresh food and beverages with generous portions. Sandwiches, tapas, and smoothies are classic takes on munchies. Where else can you get a ” Tuna Blunt Wrap” for $7 and a “Honey Oil” Smoothie for $4. $4.20 is the minimum purchase to be in their space (pun intended).

Wonderment really happens on the “potio”. It is like sitting in a very sacred garden. The plumes of smoke from each table, the people talking and the music playing. It’s almost magical. A series of tables, surrounded by a high fence and tall trees makes the environment serene.

Hot Box After Dark, is close to the Cafe. It has opened it’s doors to the crowd who want a dance floor, rent a bong, and an energy drink all at the same place. $5 membership, and the fun can be had from Thursday to Sunday.

Vapor Central is a prime example of “going to your happy place.” A daily, weekly or monthly membership gets you into a lounge where you can come in and out at your leisure. Pipes, bongs, and joints can be schmoked, but blunts are not allowed.

Volcano Vaporisors sit on the low tables in front of leather couches. A “bag” is given to you at the front counter with a full set of instructions. A luxurious steam full of that good ol’ THC fills up the “bag.” This takes the idea of “breathe deep” to an entire different level.

I like the big screen tv, large windows over looking Young Street and the cute snack bar. The entertainment varies from Sketch Comedy on Thursday, to Dirty Bingo on Tuesdays. It’s quite close to Bloor Subway so no one has to “drive home high.”

Toronto’s City Bylaws have a loop hole that allows the ganja lovers to puff with their brothers and sisters. Don’t ask me how this is, I am just thankful that I can.
