20 Questions With Ben Spurr (The Coast)

Ben Spurr of The Coast was kind enough to take our 20Qs leading up to the release of their new album, Queen Cities, which arrives in stores September 14th, 2010. Look out for shows in Toronto (Set 23), Montreal (Sept 25), Gueslph (Sept 30) and London (Oct 01) with more added on the daily.

1. What is your dream of happiness?
I had a dream the other night that no one would leave me alone while I tried to use the bathroom. It wasn’t happy, but that’s the last dream I remember.

2. Blonde or Brunette?
I respectfully refuse to choose.

3. What is the quality you like most in a woman?
Long hair

4. What do you fear most?
Questionnaires.

5. 808s or 909s?
808s

6. What’s your biggest regret?
It’s very big, and I can’t say it on pinkmafia.ca.

7. What’s your fav bar or club in the world?

Right now it’s Motel on Queen Street. No one seems to know about it yet, so hopefully I’m ahead of the trend.

8. What’s the one thing you can’t live without?
Beer, apparently.

9. What are the 3 musicians dead or alive you’d like to see perform?
Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Muhammad Ali

10. What is your favorite decade in music?
This one, because my band is a part of it.

11. If you had to choose, would you rather go blind or deaf and why?
Blind I think. I’m sure everyone says this, but life without music would be lonely.

12. How old is too old?
19

13. Where do you see yourself in 15 years?
Fat and married. In Parkdale.

14. Who’s your hero?
My dad. Awwww shucks.

15. What’s your favourite colour?
Navy blue.

16. What song could you live without ever hearing again?
Oh god there’s so many. The song the ice cream truck plays has been really bothering me lately though, let’s go with that one.

17. Metallica or Madonna?

Definitely Madonna. Metallica’s anti-Napster campaign really left a sour taste in my mouth.

18. What’s your most hated vice?
Watching reruns on TV.

19. Who is the most tragic figure in history?
Jesus Christ.

20. What are the top three live shows you’ve seen in your life?
Arcade Fire at Massey Hall. Ryan Adams at the Opera House. Spiritualized at the Kool Haus. All the big ones.
