Freedom 2011 with A-Trak
At Pink Mafia, we love A-Trak. We’ve basically covered all of his shows intown since this blog has been up 3-4 years ago. I mean, what’s not to love about Canada’s best DJ? He’s awesome!
Last night outside the Guvernment’s tent, Itzsoweezee’s Tom Wrecks provided floor filling music for umm basically me and 3 other party goers before A-Trak’s set. It was only until 12:30am when people started to make their way outside from Guv. Shortly after 1am, A-Trak came on stage djing infront of what it looked like, two wooden columns forming an “A” shape. This was supposed to be part of Fools Gold’s “Magic 8 Ball” tour minus Kid Sister and Gas Lamp Killer.
Looking at the crowd I noticed it was small and unsual for a A-Trak show. Maybe it’s because he was also part of The Guv’s Freedom 2011 with tickets as much as $50+ For the lucky ones who were able to go, they were treated to genre blending tunes with reconizable Duck Sauce hits and samples from Kanye, Rihanna, Wiz Khalifa, Major Lazer, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Pharoahe Monch’s Simon Says to name a few.
My favourite track of the night was that “Big Bad Wolf” one. Once A-Trak got the crowd chanting ”THE BIG BAD WOLF!” he reached over to press this button and out came the wolf howls. It’s my new fave Duck Sauce track. Out with the Barbra Streisand and in with the big bad wolf. It’s definetly a banger to be played at a club near you later this year.
