The Year Of 4-Beyonce’s all grown up
Maybe you haven’t heard Beyonce’s latest album “4″ yet. Maybe you’ve been living under a rock and you haven’t seen the video for “Run The World”. Maybe you live on the moon. In all seriousness, it’s possible that you only know the first single, with its unmistakable Major Lazer sample from last summer’s biggest hit, “Pon De Floor”. If that’s all you know, then you should probably take a closer look.
“4″ is our favourite Beyonce album to date. Mostly because it’s not just a collection of singles slapped together with some studio filler. It’s a real album-just put it on and press play. Our favourites change daily, and the second
“The Year Of 4″ special really changed our view of Beyonce. We always loved her as a pop star and an icon, but watching her vacation on homemade handy cam video footage and hearing her speak about empowering young women to reach for the stars was truly touching. The special is set to the music from the album, and it fits like a glove. She had us at “sometimes we are satisfied with what people tell us we’re supposed to be satisfied with, and I’m just not going for it.” Suddenly she’s managing herself, she’s paying for her own studio time, and she’s still smiling right through it.
In short, do yourself a favor, and watch Beyonce’s “Year of 4″.
And if that’s not enough, then check out this behind the scenes video (shot on Super 8) of the Parisienne shoot for her album cover.
