According to a Queer Grrrl: Summer Sucked and Time to Hide Inside.

Summer’s almost over, and I couldn’t be happier. Being a Femme of a very fair complexion, avoiding the sun and greasing my arms up with SPF 90 are daily occurances for me when it’s plus 40. When I felt that first blast of cold air on Monday, I suspect I was one of the happiest people in Toronto.

As a result of my lack of love for the summer months, I spend a lot of time, indoors. So during the day, drapes closed blasting my A/C with face promptly in front of my monitor. In the process I found a few gems I thought I would share with all of you. Some of these acts have been around for awhile, and some just broke out of the Youtube closet.

Musical Comedy at a different level.

My favourite Martian is a cartoon band. Its dry witted groans of displeasure expressed through rap and soul searching melodies. I have busted a gut on every song they have up on youtube. ‘Grandma’s got a face book” “My Balls” and “Zombie Love Song” just to name a few. Club Villan is the one that I can’t get out of my head. They have teased their fans by asking us if “we would like them to go on tour.” The question all of us ask is .. HOW?

Weird Al Yankovic has parodied every major musical act. Micheal Jackson was one of the few who had two of his songs lampooned: Bad became Fat , and Beat it became
Eat it . The unique thing about Al is that he asks permission before he starts laying tracks. Lady Gaga is his latest musical target. Perform this Way , is a take on Born this way. If you are not a fan yet, you maybe after watching some his stuff.

Heather Morris.

Heather Morris , or Britney Piece of “Glee” fame has my heart. In my opinion, she must be in a category all to herself. I am in need of a full time girlfriend, and I would be more than happy to step up to the plate if she is looking for one as well. I like how she plays this perfectly dumb blonde on the show, but has a perfectly serious face when she dances. Many of the clips on my fave list, are fan creations , but they do nicely. This one , I watch when I am feeling lonley as she always makes me simle. Probably cuz she is not wearing very much, and does a lot of bumping, grinding and laying it down low.

Random Acts of Comedy.

Robin Williams has had a long career of making people laugh, primarily thought his constant ability to improvise and be completely unpredictable. You literally don’t know where he will go with his comedy. His take on Golf was the closest I got to a golf course this summer. Warning however. If you have never watched anything from this gifted comedian, grab a box of tissues, and hit the loo first. The guy is almost guaranteed to make you pee when you laugh. I kid you not.

Denis Leary, of “Rescue Me” fame , has the innate ability to insult just about everything and everyone, and still make you want to hear more. I absolutely love this guy. Drugs and Vegetarians is the absolutely the opposite of tame. Expect tons of swearing and rude references to bodily functions. Coffee cracks me as I to, just want, a coffee flavoured coffee.

The fall, then winter months are going to arrive. Not too soon for me, although I am sure those of you out there, are already dreading these darker and colder days of the year. At least now, you have some youtubes to keep you company when you are snuggled up in front of your monitor this winter.
