H&M Collabos Galore

When it comes to bringing high end designers to the mass H&M reigns supreme!! Just when we’re recouping from the Versace OD they dropped another collabo on us…. POW!! I imagine by now even the remote parts of the Arctic Circle are in the loop, but in case you call the under side of a rock home… Marni is the next designer to lend its name to H&M.  The collection is set to launch March 8th with a lil something for everyone men’s and women’s clothing, accessories, jewelry and shoes,  and will be sold online and in 260 H&M stores. The quirky Italian fashion brand is known for its colorful prints, off the wall silhouettes and to die for accessories so I can only imagine what they have in store!!

P.S. before I forget Versace is dropping a Spring line for H&M in February… so all you depressed fashionistas get one more chance!! Here’s a sneak peak.

Kloss Gets XXX for Vogue Italia
Well, well, well… you turn 19 and it’s time to bruuuukkk out, and that is exactly what Ms. Karlie Kloss did (If you have no clue who Karlie is she walked in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show for the first time last month) !! For those who have no idea what I’m referring to let me fill you… Ms. Kloss pretty bared it all for her 18-page spread for Vogue Italia, styled by fashion editor Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele and shot by famed photographer Steven Meisel.  I’m sure many would die for a body as stunning as Karlie’s and I can’t lie either she looked F*ng hot, but there’s something that is slightly disturbing about a fresh 19-year old posing nude with her sinewy thin limbs, alien-steque torso, wide eyes and sharp cheekbones.

It’s reported Kloss’s waist is so small in one shot, Vogue Italia pulled it from its website over concerns it would be accused of photoshopping the image. Now if that doesn’t tell ya something, not sure what will!!

Mantiobah Mukluks a Fashionable Tradition

Last week Manitobah Mukluks, a Canadian success story invaded the Bata Shoe Museum to display a collection of true Aboriginal designed mukluks and moccasins to Northern trendsetters.
Manitobah Mukluks is Aboriginally owned, all the products are made right in Winnipeg they draw their inspiration from a tradition that dates back thousands of years and utilizies time-honoured techniques and materials such as natural leathers, furs, and sheepskin. After having a chat with Josh & Heather of Manitobah, I was really disappointed to hear that tradition is dying and in 20 years Megan Fox’s kids may not have any mukluks. So their goal isn’t just keeping fashionistas fly, but to empower the Aboriginals across Canada to benefit from the knowledge of their forefathers and continue to educate the world on native traditions.

Manitobah launched an initiative called STORYBOOT Project, to help Aboriginal communities achieve self-sufficiency, with a collection of mukluks and moccasins designed in partnership with Aboriginal designers from across Canada. By offering a 50/50 profit sharing agreement, artisans become true partners in the business of promoting their Aboriginal designs to the world.

Waneek Horn-Miller, celebrated Canadian & Mohawk Olympian

The packed house was treated to amazing Aboriginal entertainment and culture… from the Single Woman’s dance to some illmatic techniques on the ones and twos from A Tribe Called Red (I’m officially their new groupie!!)

“Working with aboriginal designers and artisans in every facet of the company keeps us connected with our roots. I feel like we’ve really borrowed these designs from the aboriginal people that created them thousands of years ago. I owe a debt that way to the community,” says Métis entrepreneur, Sean McCormick, founder and CEO of Manitobah Mukluks.

As always an amazing night with amazing people and I felt even better for learning the tradition behind the fashion!!
