Staying Flossy in the Winter: Beauty Bar

Staying Flossy in the Winter: Beauty Bar

Every city girl wants to stay flossy and fresh to death despite the season.  Every city girl has that one person they trust with their everything: hair, nails, brows, hell – teeth.  Girls taking getting prepped seriously and men, take note: we have a place for you to impress your ladies for a special day or for an upcoming Valentine’s Day treat.

Nestled in the Rosedale neighbourhood – I found Beauty Bar (1114 Yonge Street).  Specializing in all things beauty, including (but not limited to) nail services, Brazilian waxing, skin care and electrolysis.  Plus, newly added to the team is Joe in the hair department. I had the opportunity to speak with Sofia and Mimi, two fiercely beautiful ladies who told me they would be able to help me prepare for a night out on the town.

Sofia founded Beauty Bar over 20 years ago at a different location and built up a loyal clientele whom have followed her and her team over the years.  While we chatted over my manicure (I chose OPI DS Temptation with a Gold Sparkle overlay), both Sofia and Mimi told me about different clients who came in for weekly appointments without fail. “We’ve built a friendship with them and it’s more than just getting their nails done.” They tell me. It feels almost like a family feel and not cold, like some nail salons you can go to.  This is the Beauty Bar where everyone does know your name.  It should also be noted that my manicure (due to the Dry & Shine and another finish they put on it) lasted for two weeks once done.

Next up, I head over to get my pedicure by Pat.  Without a doubt, Pat was friendly and gave me one of the most in-depth and best pedicures I have received.  One of the biggest things I can comment on while getting pedicures is the use of pumice stone or razors to remove the dead skin.  Some places just use a pumice stone, while other places charge extra to use a razor.  Beauty Bar used razors (included in their fee) which made me LOVE my pedicure that much more.  Pat made my feet look and feel greater than they have in months.  I wanted to run off to a beach afterwards.  Too bad it’s winter.

The final step in beautification?  Getting my hair did.  Joe was taking over my crazy mane.  He has just joined the Beauty Bar team from his having is own salon out in the suburbs.  He told me that he wanted a change and decided to come out to Toronto.  What has he thought so far?  “I love it and I love the different type of clients I’ve encountered.”  So what did he envision for my hair?  “Let’s give you lots of volume with a little bit of curl.”  I was super into it. A little blowout and getting me a little bit closer to God with all that volume. Joe gave me amazing conversation & made amazing suggestions for me while I’m growing out my hair.  The results of our blow out adventure:  simply amazing. Final results:  Beauty Bar made me look super flossy for my night out.  Here are some before & after shots of my hair that night.

The biggest suggestion for the full Beauty Bar experience is to book everything all at once: manicure, pedicure and blowout.  In total, I was at Beauty Bar for three hours and walked out looking/feeling like a whole new woman.  Any city girl deserves that.  Follow Beauty Bar on Twitter for all their latest updates @beautybbar or call 416-924-4400 to book your full Beauty Bar experience.
