YLMC: ELWINS CD release w/ Meligrove Band/The Bicycles + Songs: Tokyo Police Club
Normally for the Elwins CD release show w/ Meligrove Band & The Bicycles and Songs: Tokyo Police Club we’d have two seperate posts promoting these two seperate events and you’d have to flip a coin to pick which one gets custody for the night, but hybrids are all the rage these days! (see the Jaguar C-X16, The Vampire Diaries) It’s also how Young Lions Music Club rolls. TOMORROW NIGHT, instead of playing favourites to just one great party, they’ve rolled these two awesome events into one mega event, partnered with Toronto Standard and taken over the Burroughes Building for maximium party time! Excellent!
The epic night will kick off with a celebration of the debut release from the Elwins, makers of sweet pop rock and the raddest videos on YouTube. ‘And I Thank You’ is out now and available on iTunes and bandcamp for your eternal enjoyment. Joining them for the night with performances will be The Bicycles and
my local heros Meligrove Band. Doors open at 8pm and advance tickets are $8 (RT/SS) or $12 at the door with partial proceeds going to support the Toronto Music Industry Association.
Part deux of the evening will forge ahead around midnight with returning ‘Champs’ Tokyo Police Club on the ones-and-twos to get the PODO started. You should know by now that when it comes to the ultimate indie dance party, Songs is the shit. If you need a friendly nudge, the alumni under their belt include but are not limited to: Fucked Up, Broken Social Scene, Beirut and Rural Alberta Advantage. If seeing really great bands play awesome live music isn’t “your thing”, $6 will get you in after the bands finish up but it is highly recommendend you come early.
