Pinkie’s Fashion Fix

Pinkie’s Fashion Fix

Can you believe another month is coming to end and spring is literally around the corner- where does the time go?!? If you think time flies in the real world, well in the fashion frontier it goes at runway speed… I mean damn, we’ve already went through four Fashion Weeks!! Before you miss anymore, here’s your fashion fix.

HM x MARNI COLLABO

If you’re like me you can’t get enough of H&M and their collabos, so when Marni  joined the ranks I was head over heels. So when scored an invite to preview the collection at the exclusive Trump International Hotel and Tower, I was there in a heartbeat. Boy, are these pieces amazing and even better it’s exactly what you love and want from Marni.

The collection and it’s pieces are very easy to wear with a super-fresh resort-chic- who could go wrong.

Prints, prints, prints is honestly one of the number one reasons I love Marni and those polka dots were just what I needed.

And those detachable sequined collars are fire, throw one on for an instant statement.

Even the men were treated to prints, layered with amazing cropped pieces and their accessories (especially the socks) had me beaming.

Hands down the best part of the collection was the serious statement jewelry, I mean the necklaces are to die for… I NEED everyone of them in my life!!

As always another stellar collabo from H&M… please keep them coming, my wallet loves you for it.

WE HEART JASON WU: POP-UP SHOP

Jason Wu, Canada’s sweetheart of fashion has come along way since his humble beginnings in the Great White North… to now dressing some of the most amazing people on the face of the earth. Like really, the first lady Michelle Obama has him on speed dial.

We all know collabos are the name of the game these days, so when Target announced Mr. Wu as their latest collabo- I was on the floor.I deceived a plan to go across the border to snag some of the super pretty and feminine pieces… but then the fashion gods spoke!! And magically there was an invite for a Jason Wu for Target “pop-up shop”. Some lucky media folks (myself included) were invited to a lovely morning reception and the BEST part a chance to get our hands on the Jason Wu goodies BEFORE the general public *and breathe*.

It was busting a the seams, everyone and their mom was there… seriously who could miss the opportunity.

I thank my lucky stars for the invite, ’cause as much as I (heart) me some Wu- that line was DEADLY!!

HOMEGROWN: NELLA BELLA F/W ’12 PREVIEW

I love nothing more than supporting the amazing talent our city has to offer. So when Nella Bella presented it’s Fall/Winter ’12 Collection at Urbanspace Gallery I had to be there.

The Nu Nylon Collection, a personal fave of mine… is really finding it’s own with new shapes, styles, and the most awesome colours ever.increasing customer demand.

The Nu Mirage Collection is made from material that offers the best of both worlds- soft- suppleness while providing great structure. Which makes it perfect for those delightful satchel and duffel bags we love.

Last but not least we can’t forget Andreas Kyriakos- the teenage designer that created a two-piece collection with classic European styling.

As always it was a great night filled with laughter and amazing people. Congratulations are in order, once again Tarek Al-Azbat you have out done yourself.

TATSUAKI: SPRING/SUMMER 2012 COLLECTION

“Simple, unique and sexy” is how designer Dan Tatsuaki would describe his designs. Last week Friday I was delighted to attend the preview of Tatsuaki Spring/Summer 2012 collection

The pieces are made from a polyester blend which is light, effortless while still being feminine and sexy- everything a woman could want.

When I asked Dan about his laser cut piece he looked at me and said, “Laser, oooh no that is all done by hand.” I was in disbelief, who knew all that detail was done by HAND.

“Yes, I want a woman to be sexy in my designs, but you will never see any skin or direct sexiness… you will have to look a little.” Dan Tatsuaki

The collection will be available at The Bay ending of March, beginning of April.

READER RATE & REVIEW: SCHICK HYDRO SILK

As my loyal readers may remember at the beginning of the month I did a “Rate & Review” for the new Schick Hydro Silk Razor. After trying trying it for myself I gave my peeps a chance to “Rate & Review” for themselves, and here’s what you said…

“Wow! This has got to be THE best razor I’ve ever used. One day I tried
it without using shaving cream and it left my legs feeling smooth and
silky. Another day, I didn’t apply lotion evenly after getting out of
the shower and my legs felt just as good. Schick Hydro Silk truly
created a product that understands the busy life of a woman, being in
a rush on those crazy mornings and not having time to do the everyday
essentials.”- M. Carreon

“The razor is a five out of five. It “glides smooth” and I didn’t even use shaving cream. It got rid of the hair after about 2 swipes. Normally, with single blades, you gotta go over it a million times. And NO CUTS at all, truly impressed.”D. Garvey

“It’s really smooth, it enabled me to shave straight up my leg to me knee which I’ve always had issues doing. The razor shaved fine on my legs, but I really noticed the difference on my bikini line because my hair didn’t grow back as fast and there was much less irritation. I found that even though my hair doesn’t grow back as fast overall, the fact that it doesn’t leave irritation allows me to shave more often if I have to.”N. Hay

“The razor shaved well in all angles, since the moisture strip surrounds the shaver. So I can go against the grain on the back of my thigh and not get shaver bumps or nicks. The only downside was that the rotation of the blade isn’t as much as other brands, so I had to get used to the elevation on the blade.” - N. Mackenzie

“Smooth and quick shave, pretty much everything I want in a razor without all the fuss. Especially the moisture serum strip, I could totally skip the shaving gel and not have any irritation. Though it’s not something I would daily” - L. Thomas

As always thanks for following my adventures on the fashion frontier.
