Pinkie’s Fashion Fix
So I’ve survived another fashion week, which thanks to Mother Nature it wasn’t that bad because the weather was ooh soo beautiful… one day I wore wedges and a maxi dress, just to find myself wearing Mukluks today. Good ol’ Canadian weather!! As usual here’s another fashion fix…
Alexander McQueen x PUMA
We all know how I love me some collabos… So when Alexander McQueen (Lord, rest his soul) and PUMA decide to become chums I’m all for it – I mean sneakers designed by a fashion God, where can we go wrong. Last week I got a chance to peep these delights at The Spoke Club when PUMA threw a Fall/Winter 2012 “Pop-up Closet”.
The Alexander McQueen PUMA collection is all about “flying like n eagle“… a lil urban escapism if you will.
Think retro, vintage inspired sneakers with “athletic opulence” as dubbed my PUMA.
Over the top materials and McQueen’s signature embellishments and character are seen in the fur, feathers, and even colour-blocking.

The goodies on the block weren’t just the McQueen’s, PUMA had me drooling over the accessories for fall… especially the backpacks with a nostalgic touch found in the material and colours.
Even the kiddies are super-fly for F/W, from outerwear to kicks PUMA has them decked out in amazing colours, with classic styles.

As always classics are always the way to go and PUMA knows exactly how to do it right season after season.

The extra special touch had to be the PUMA x OPI signature nail polish in Puma Noir (the girls made sure to take a sample or two).
RACHEL Rachel Roy: Country x City
These days we all love designers that keep pesos in my wallet and one of those designers is Rachel Roy. Last week I had a chance to check out her Spring 2012 collection for RACHEL Rachel Roy at Wish Restaurant.
The collection is a melting pot of country mixed with a lil bit of urban chic, this can be seen in the lovely prints, bohemian styling including touches of gypsy details, and fabric textures.
Rachel Roy made sure to keep us comfortable and chic with some amazing basics, which are also some of her faves – in a rainbow of colours.
May fave basic had the be in the asymmetric flounce dresses with pockets and in literally a million colours.
Even a few pieces for the true romantics inspired by La Reve… the lover’s bridge in Paris filled with the lockets of lovers.
Shoes, bags and accessories in colours and prints that make you wanna clear the self off is the name of the game for RACHEL.
Nautical touches always a must for Spring.
I need all of these dresses in my life every single one of them… especially the rush hour print in purple a perfect salute to the city.
It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye
Seems like some of our faves are closing up shop, as sad as it is… it means saving in our pockets. So go, get out there and support your homies – for one last time.
British designer Andrew Buckler, is closing his TO store Buckler at 700 Queen St. W. the end of this month. In true Buckler style had a lil shindig… when it comes the sales – think clearing out basics and killer combo deals.
“A Private Hunting Ground” aka Chasse Gardée (one of my faves) located at 1084 Queen St. W. is taking its’ last strut on March 30th. Known for their bad-ass shoes and everything from sunglasses to dresses too, sooo sad to see them go but 50%-80% off – makes it a lil better.
A vet on Queen West stripe Response Clothing at 690 Queen St. W. is calling it a day as well. Home to owner Glynis Dupuis’ ready to wear designs and hand-picked treats including accessories and shoes.
Serving up unique and eclectic accessories for over a decade Propaganda located at 686 Yonge St. will be closing up shop at the end of April. Don’t be sad we can still get goodies, at Shopaganda.ca and if you wanna hang with owner Regina Sheung drop her latest spot Labour of Love Boutique in Cabbagetown!
H&M to Go Lux…
The rumor mill is churning that that the mega-retailer the H&M Group is in the works on creating a luxury brand that’s a step above their current offerings (which includes “Exclusive Conscious”, COS & brands like Cheap Monday and Monki) . This new collection is under lots of speculation but on concrete confirmation, H&M spokeswoman Charlotta Nemline stated, “We are constantly looking at new ideas; it’s a natural part of our work. However, there is nothing new that we can [talk] about for the moment.”
Tommy Ton x Club Monaco Limited Capsule Collection
Our home-grown hero photographer Tommy Ton knows a thing or two about style so it’s natural for him and retailer Club Monaco to make a collabo. A collabo on what exactly… well a limited capsule collection of functional street-savvy bags for Spring 2012. The collection is minimalist and unisex; it includes a messenger bag and backpack each made of blue cotton upper and piped in leather with silver detail and hardware. Minimalist and utilitarian, each boasts streamlined silver metal details and hardware. The collection is to be release March 2012 (we have special launch in the city tonight).
I guess when you’re Dior you do everything BIG… the design house just opened the doors of a brand new store aka mini-mall in Taipei,Taiwan.
Located in enormous Taipei 101 mall, the store boast a massive 19,410 square feet in total area, and features multiple levels and walk-in showcases.
Dior made sure not to overlook one thing… the space inlcudes three RTW salons, a shoe room, two floors of Dior Homme, and exclusive limited edition pieces.

Ooooh and if you’re a baller, they got you… VIP rooms, and elevator access that runs a directly in or out of the Taipei 101 tower.
The store’s design is brain-child of renowned architect Peter Marino, who envisioned the store as a fusion of 18th-century and contemporary interior design.. every room of the store features contemporary and popular designers, such as Terence Koh, Claude Lalanne.
Until next time…
Pinkie
