Blog Hunter: DaLish Summer Beauty Guide – Part 1

summer, skin, party, beauty

Welcome to a 4 part guide to getting your skin summer ready – concluding with the perfect summer make up looks for day and night.

Prepping for your summer skin starts with what you’re feeding it. Think of your skin as a sponge, which is absorbing and using everything you’re putting into your body. One of the most important things your skin and body needs is water. Proteins and good fats are also essential. I can’t tell you how many women I come across that are dried up and raisin-like at 40 because all they did was exercise and cut out all the important things their bodies needed. It’s not rocket science kids: eat your fruit, veggies, lean proteins and fats – and drink plenty of water. After the jump, check out a smoothie recipe that includes everything you need, and can find at home, to get smooth, supple and healthy looking skin.

Here is my super booster smoothie recipe that is incredible for your skin, inside and out:

DaLish Power Smoothie

1 cup of mixed frozen or fresh berries – Strawberries, blue berries, raspberries – even black berries. Whatever you have access to. These are your power antioxidants, which are disease-fighting compounds.

1 small banana – Perfect for boosting your energy, mood and is a great source of fiber.

1 cup of almond milk – Fantastic for anti aging, plus it contains more vitamins and minerals than Soy, and is very high in protein. It also contains omega-3 fatty acids, so it’s great for your heart.

1 tablespoon of flax oil – Contains oils and proteins that are made up of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Our skin has a fatty layer made up of these acids and additional fats. The more omega-3 acids you have in your body, the stronger the layer of fat will be around the skin cells, meaning that your cells, and your skin, will be plumper.

½ of a small Avocado – The health benefits of avocados are endless – in addition to its fat burning effect due to its vitamin E and glutathione, it can also protect you against tonnes of diseases including several forms of cancer, heart disease and diabetes. They also help reduce the signs of aging, regulate blood sugar, lower cholesterol and promote eye health.

1 teaspoon of cinnamon – Cinnamon has a balancing effect on blood sugar, making it especially beneficial for people with diabetes.

Blend together and drink! It tastes delicious and within a few weeks I can promise you’ll start seeing the difference in your skin. You’ll have a glow and less black heads and acne.

Now that we’ve covered inside – stay tuned for part 2 of this series, which will be  DIY home skin care recipes using every day, household ingredients.

Till then, stay fabulous,

Melanie
