According to a Queer Grrrl:The #Queergrrrlz List:Volume 1

This is my first official #Queergrrrlz list! I have included three events here for your consideration for entertainment. The “Burnout Basement,” a 13th anniversary of Kick Ass Karaoke, and DARKRAVE v.139.

BURNOUT BASEMENT

When: Every Wednesday 20:00 until 03:00

Where: Bambi’s 1265 Dundas Street West.

This weeks super special DJ: MATTY DEE

DRINK SPECIALS : $3 Fireball shots $5 Mill St. pints. and $8 The Whip (Stock + Jameson, straight up)

Karen Frostitution brings you Burnout Basement. She is a promoter with a few other tricks up her sleeve. She is a model and a pastry chef who specializes in “Food Porn.” I asked her about the name of her event and she explained her to me: “It’s no pot smoking at the bar. Just a rock n roll party for burnouts. I always have different djs spinning punk, metal psych, shoegaze, u know stoner jams!”  This event is perfect for a Wednesday evening featuring cheap tasty alcohol and loud hard core tunes.

TTC and Cyclist Info: Take the 506 Carlton Car to Dovercourt. It is across from the 7-11 on the south east side. Cyclists, just travel along on Dundas. If you haven’t been that far west in Toronto as of yet, it will be a real treat for you. It’s a nice ride through a different part of town that is quite hip. Bonus points, as the Carlton Car runs a Blue Night service so you can get back home without a worry.

Kickass Karaoke 13th anniversary

“The Real Imitation”

When : Sunday 15 July 2012 10:00 pm until 02:00 am

Where : Rivoli 334 Queen Street West, Toronto

Contact : kickasskaraoke@me.com

Carson T Foster has been bringing good karaoke to the masses for 13 years. He is well known to his fans for his flexibility and amazing song book. He encourages his peeps to ask about songs they may want to be added to his catalogue. Not that there really is much lacking. I found Madonna’s “Sooner or Later” in there and NO ONE else has it (or at least none of the karaoke hosts that I know). Carson states on his facebook page, “this is the Lucky 13th Anniversary of Kickass Karaoke. Drop by, say hello, share a drink.”

If you have not yet climbed the stairs to the classically styled pool hall at the The Rivoli, then you owe yourself the chance to check it out. This venue is also a restaurant, bar and an amazing performance space. The food and beverage are average downtown prices.

TTC and Cyclist info: The venue is at Queen and Spadina, north east side. 501 Queen Street Car takes you right there and the 301 is the Blue Night service.

DARKRAVE v.139
