Can you believe July is almost over? I mean August is upon us and you know that means – summer is coming to an end. But, let’s not fret about swapping open toes for boots just yet, and focus on the fashion frontier…. and boy is it hot!!

Joe Fresh x J.C. Penney

I gotta start with this one as it’s hometown news, so here we go: I’m sure everyone has heard by now that Joe Fresh has teamed up with American retail chain J.C. Penney to open almost 700 Joe Fresh “shops” by next spring. I’m not going to say much about this (we all know that I’m not the biggest fan of the Joe Fresh) and the last time I checked J.C. Penney wasn’t doing the greatest either. BTW did I mention this is a four year deal? This also means fewer stand alone stores down south for Joe Fresh. I guess they needed something to shake things up as second quarter earnings didn’t budge from last year. I dont want to be a hater, so I wish Mimran and Loblaws family good luck.

 Karl Lagerfeld’s x Olympics at Selfridges

The Summer Olympics kicks off today in London. I’m soo excited. it’s one of my faves. So what better way to celebrate than with clothes of course?! The man himself,  Karl Lagerfeld, has designed a collection of Olympic themed items for his name sake label.

The Team Karl collection will be available at Selfridges’s ”Team Karl” pop-shops. Designs include biker jackets, jeans, tees and, my personal fave, metallic collars.

SNEAK PEEK: Saint Laurent Paris Showoffs New Branding

To my dismay, and to the dismay of many others I might add, Yves Saint Laurent made the announcement that it will change the name of its ready to wear collection to Saint Laurent Paris. This weekend YSL aka SLP (that was kinda weird, I won’t do it again) posted the new logo on its Facebook page. What do you think?

eBay’s Holiday Collective Collabo

I imagine everyone is a lil collaboed-out, and to be honest I don’t blame you! And yet, here comes eBay with its take on a ‘holiday collabo.” Seven designers — Billy Reid, Chris Benz, Fallon, Jonathan Adler, Ruffian, Steven Alan, and Tibi — have teamed up for a limited edition Holiday 2012 collection. eBay’s  Holiday Collective will be available online as of November 12. It features a 40-piece collection, showcasing five pieces from each designer , and will include womenswear, menswear, jewelry, travel, electronic accessories, and home decor. Ooooh and all pieces will be shipped free of charge! The prices aren’t too shabby either, from $50 to $100.

The Face

Our favourite supermodel bad-girl, Naomi Campbell,  is going head to head with Tyra Banks in the supermodel reality show realm. Naomi is launching her highly anticipated modeling competition show, The Face, and is stacking the show with some major model star power. She just announced Coco Rocha and Karolina Kurkova as cast members, and then the even bigger bomb… Nigel Barker will be the host (how you like that Tyra)!!

House of Style is Back

OMG, MTV announced earlier this week that they will bring back one of my fave shows ever: House of Style!! But here is the catch: it will be “integrated across MTV’s multiple media platforms”  instead of reinstated as the half-hour show it was (I’m okay with that) . Highlights from the show’s glory days will be posted on MTV Style, and a documentary will be released August 7 called House of Style: Music, Models and MTV.
