Snoop Lion: Reincarnated
If you thought Snoop Dogg was dead or at least irrelevant, he’s not – he’s been REINCARNATED. After a recent trip to Jamaica with the object of isolating himself and focusing on his music, Snoop went on a completely different journey, saying “For this project, I had no intention of making a reggae album, but the spirit called me. Anytime the spirit calls you gotta know that it’s serious and real”
Much more than just a moniker change, Snoop Lion has partnered with VICE media in a project entitled REINCARNATED, that includes a reggae album produced by Diplo and the Major Lazer production team, a documentary (which will air at TIFF this year), a photobook and a non-profit initiative called Mind Garden.

His name change caused quite a furor on the interwebs and he explains: “I didn’t want to be Snoop Dogg on a reggae track…I wanted to bury Snoop Dogg and become Snoop Lion, but I didn’t know that until I went to the temple and received the name Snoop Lion from the Nyabingi priest,” said Snoop. “From that moment on, I started to understand why I was there and was able to create something magical in this [Reincarnated] project…something I haven’t done before in my career.”
Make sure to catch Snoop Lion & The Jungle at The Hoxton this Friday August 3rd, 2012 for his FIRST live performance as Snoop Lion.
In the meantime enjoy his new track La La La
