Bloghunter: Rain’s World Part II
In my last post I talked about how the inspiration for Rain’s World came from the parts of regular interviews that don’t make the cut — not the formal question and answer format. When the artists forget about the camera and are just being themselves. That’s the feeling I try to get in my interviews, but since our shoots can last over an hour (depending on the band), there are still awesome bits that never get posted.
Back in the winter, the Darcys came over. We played Ouija, and summoned lead singer Jason’s dead cat from beyond the grave (it confirmed the fact that it was hit by a bus). But then, the guys found a pair of puppets and decided to tell a ten-minute story with them. While lying on the floor. The story was way too long for an episode, but it was also too funny to just forget about. I decided to make it into a totally seperate video: the very first Rain’s World outtake! For your viewing pleasure: a dinosaur and a beluga talk about the TTC, courtesy of the Darcys!
Definitely one of my favourite videos I’ve ever recorded. And definitely not what I expected from a band that sounds like this:
We ended up hanging out all night, hitting up the Lakeview Diner for some poutine… and more beer. Oh, and speaking of beer, SURPRISE! It’s time for that new Poor Young Things video I promised. It involves beer.
Be sure to head on over to my blog where I’m giving away a copy of their new album.
