IMG takes over World Mastercard Fashion Week

Like most of the fashion frontier in the Great White North, we have a few rumors flying around our Toronto Fashion Week. I was greeted with an early morning email with the subject:  “FDCC and IMG Fashion, jointly announce IMG as the owner and producer of World MasterCard Fashion Week“. Yup, that’s right: The big guns have stepped in to takeover TFW now joining the likes of New York, London, Milan, Berlin, Australia, Tokyo, Mumbai, Istanbul, Miami, Russia, etc. This takeover shake-up has some great benefits for the designers and really the whole industry, I just hope it doesn’t get too big and crazy!! Just in case you’re wondering, Robin Kay will be stepping down as executive director, but will still remain president of the FDCC.

Can you believe July is almost over? I mean August is upon us and you know that means – summer is coming to an end. But, let’s not fret about swapping open toes for boots just yet, and focus on the fashion frontier…. and boy is it hot!!

For all of you die hard fashion elite, I know you damn near lost your mind when your heard Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana will be doing a tiny couture show. I know I still can’t believe it that D&G, the boys that make me love animal print like no other, will test the waters of couture with an itsy bitsy collection in Taormina, Sicily, on July 9. All I know is the guest list couldn’t be more exclusive. It’s reported that only clients and  three undisclosed media outlets — none of them American — are on the list. Damn, can we get a livestream?

ANOTHER COLLABO H&M x ANNA DELLO RUSSO

Yes, that’s right peoples… H&M has announced an outrageous accessory collabo with the one and only street style icon Anna Dello Russo aka ADR. If you don’t know who ADR is let me give you the 411 – she’s the editor-at-large/creative consultant at Vogue Japan, but her claim to fame is her outrageous street style that has landed on ever blog you can think of… not to mention 4,000 pairs of shoes doesn’t hurt.

TEINT IDOLE ULTRA 24H

I’m usually not one for endorsing products, BUT it seems that Lancôme Canada has won me over. I was asked to take the new TEINT IDOLE ULTRA 24H out for a test drive and I feel in LOVE… and became a Lancôme | Teint Idole!! At first I was very iffy especially with the matching of shades (c’mon I am a black girl), I was pleasantly surprised that the shade matched perfectly and even more impressed with the light, smooth texture. TOMS: One Day Without Shoes

Today TOMS invites you to participate in the annual global event, One Day Without Shoes! The event spreads awareness on the impact a pair of shoes can have on a child’s life by taking off our own. All you have to do is take off your shoes, tell people why you are doing it and encourage them to do it too. Take a picture of yourself and the shoeless people around you and remember to share the photos on various social media platforms (#withoutshoes).

So I’ve survived another fashion week, which thanks to Mother Nature it wasn’t that bad because the weather was ooh soo beautiful… one day I wore wedges and a maxi dress, just to find myself wearing Mukluks today. Good ol’ Canadian weather!! As usual here’s another fashion fix…

Alexander McQueen x PUMA

We all know how I love me some collabos… So when Alexander McQueen (Lord, rest his soul) and PUMA decide to become chums I’m all for it – I mean sneakers designed by a fashion God, where can we go wrong. Last week I got a chance to peep these delights at The Spoke Club when PUMA threw a Fall/Winter 2012 “Pop-up Closet”.

As we all know the tents went up at David Pecaut Square for the Fall/Winter 2012 installment World MasterCard Fashion Week Toronto. For those you who live under a rock and wondering what’s happening there… LG is out MasterCard is in as lead sponsor, L’Oréal is out Maybelline Canada is in as makeup sponsor and Redken is doing the hair. Now that we got the logistics, time to focus on the FASHION!!

Can you believe another month is coming to end and spring is literally around the corner- where does the time go?!? If you think time flies in the real world, well in the fashion frontier it goes at runway speed… I mean damn, we’ve already went through four Fashion Weeks!! Before you miss anymore, here’s your fashion fix.
