They are commonly called “the winter blues” as the sun is gone half the day. As queers its even more important for us to stay connected to our community and ourselves, anyway we can. Staying in when it is minus 37 is a no brainer. But it’s not your only option. There are a few other options that you can explore. Doing what is best for our body, mind and spirit is sometimes what helps us through these darker cold days.
It’s refreshing that over the last year female rappers have been getting the proper recognition they deserve. No, I’m not talking about Nicki Minaj, and her bullshit, but the actual talented females: Iggy Azalea, Lady, Reema Major, & Azealia Banks. These women hold nothing back, whether it be through their music or their image, and having just starting to blow up, 2012 is going to be a big year for girls in the game. If you’re not familiar with these girls, here’s your chance; listen, save and download.
What is one of the most important things in your life? First off I’d have to say your pets (if you have any) and then next up is your friends. Especially as we grow older and drift apart from our blood relatives we create a circle of friends who become our new family. Wow this blog post is getting deep. What I’m trying to say is friends are important and we are the company we keep so choose wisely while you create your own version of a family.

Hey party people. Sick of people asking how your New Years was yet? Or year in general? Blah. 2011 had me eating meat for the first time in 3 years, perfecting a roast chicken, and apparently loving booze (see here, here and here). Outside of my own little world the food world is no longer the place it was last year. Here are the trends you’ll want to know about in order to bitch slap that foodie-hipsters mouth shut at the bar tonight.
Finally, it movie time! The holidays are donzo which means it’s back to watching a shit load of movies..which I haven’t been doing for some reason (oh yea that’s right I’ve been on a terror). Anyways, so this week I’ve got insights on the first 6 minutes of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, the new ‘Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol’ and Ti West’s new flick ‘ The Innkeepers’.
Uncertain and Unattached asked: Hi Mica, I’ve been seeing/banging this one guy for a while and I’m pretty head over heels for him. I know he likes me, but is not as interested in getting serious as I am. In the meantime, I ended up macking on a friend of a friend who I’ve known for a little while and he’s revealed he’s had feelings for me and has made every effort over the last few weeks to spend time with me. I really like the 2nd guy, but don’t want to mess up his friendship with my friend if it doesn’t work out, nor am I sure I even want anything at all right now. Should I continue to pursue to Guy A who I like, but isn’t as into me as the other one? Help!

Can you BELIEVE it’s a NEW YEAR on the Fashion Frontier, and 2012 at that!! With a NEW YEAR comes all the talk about – resolutions, changes, renewal, goals, and my personal fave the catch lines ” 2012 is my Year”, “New Year, New Money”. All I gotta say is “Whatever you put your mind, body, & soul into this year I hope it brings everything your heart desires”!! With that said we know “Fashion don’t sleep”, so on with the show!!
First off rap crews are coming back hard and a lot are getting major hype. *Cough* Odd Future *Cough* But lately all we’ve been paying attention to is the ASAP crew (Always Strive and Prosper).
And our favourite member? ASAP ROCKY.
For the past nine years the Gladstone Hotel has been offering up an alternative take on Toronto Design Week called Come Up To My Room. Those artists and designers chosen are given one of 11 rooms or one of 14 public spaces throughout the hotel in which to let their imagination run wild. Curators pick participants based on their work and experience, and they put a lot of faith behind their choices. While there is an ongoing dialog about public space with the makers, the curators know very little about the spaces being made in the hotel. Like the rest of us they have to wait for the reveal.
Everyday I leave the house I see at least 10 babes within an hour. Hot in the face, perfect hair, tailored clothes: total babes, but sometimes, most times, it’s fucking annoying. Seeing dudes on the street who look like they have put more time into their look than a 905 girl going to party @ Music, is such a turn off.
