Get Er Done Tour Diary 3: Montreal-Toronto-Ottawa

Get Er Done Tour Diary 3: Montreal-Toronto-Ottawa

It's that time of year again. When I pack up a bunch of the grimiest girls on and off the decks into a car and we traverse the Great Canadian North. The tour diary has become just a legendary as the parties of the years, so i hope I don't disappoint you with this one. First thing's first, we are NOT cut out for car rentals. For some reason this tour does not come equipped with licenses that go with credit cards. Those two things do not mix in the same wallet, so our friend Kitty offered to drive. She can't...

Best in Show…July 8

Best in Show…July 8

Mod...'>Mod...'>

It's been too long since I've felt the Mod Club move like it did Sunday night. After a weekend of pride-whoring myself out, I seriously didn't know how I was going to stand upright or stay awake. Moments after settling in, the band took stage and it was as though I was slapped in the face with awesome. Minus the Bear was thunderous! As a band with a well-buzzed about live show, an opener like "Drilling" makes it inherently obvious why. I could not peel my eyes away from the stage! The stage itself was fairly bareboned...

CMF: Best and Worst

CMF: Best and Worst

Wednesday Night:

Zeus, Jason Collett, and Bahamas at Lee's Palace [caption id="attachment_7612" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="Bahamas"][/caption] Jason Collett has always a staple in my music library but for some reason, Wednesday night was my first experience with his backing band Zeus and Afie Jurvanen's one-man-magical act, Bahamas. The three groups came together in what I would call one of the most incredible collaborations I've ever seen live. The stage was set like a cozy living room (equipped with vintage lampshades that kept getting in the way of Collett's flounce of hair and during Mike O'Brian's guitar...

Dollar Sign Valley Girl Visits Canada For First Time (Ke$ha’s Party)

Dollar Sign Valley Girl Visits Canada For First Time (Ke$ha’s Party)

Ke$ha (pronounced  ke-sha) is one odd duck. She’s been a stalker. She’s broken into Prince’s house and she digs dudes with mullets. It’s balls out with this girl and her character is noted and sparkles and rules, but her audience is not hearing anything they’ve never heard before. On Sunday night, Ke$ha made her Canadian debut at the Mod Club to gaggles of girls and industry insiders. There was drum-banging, bouncing and thrashing, all under the influence of a shiny substance called glitter. The set was about 30 minutes and ended with chart-topping single Tik Tok...

20 Questions with RJD2

20 Questions with RJD2

For those who are musically savvy, you've heard of RJD2 and been on his jock for some time now.  But for those not in the know, RJD2 has been in the hip hop game for ten years now.  For most, his game is just on the DL.  He started in Ohio with his own (now defunct) indie record label and making his own beats.  From there, he traveled the world performing and worked with some notable notables such as Massive Attack, Mos Def and Polyphonic Sphree.  Sure, things have changed for RJD2 (bigger studio, bigger gigs - like his one...
